Leadership Livingston Graduates Class of 2024
Leadership Livingston Graduates Class of 2024
The Leadership Livingston Class of 2024 graduated on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Leadership Livingston, a program of the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce, has been in place since 2012 and the class of 2024 is the twelfth year of graduates. This latest graduating class, with 24 graduates, brings the total graduates to 286.
The graduation event was held at Suma Hall Community Center. Class participants, sponsors, project supporters, Leadership alumni, chamber board members, friends and family of the graduates attended in support of the graduation class and program.
The graduation event included a recognition of 2024 program sponsors North Oaks Health System, First Guaranty Bank, City of Walker, Holmes Building Materials and Florida Parishes Human Services Authority. Class representatives, chosen by class members, spoke on behalf of their class. Brandy Robertson and John Hill each delivered their thoughts eloquently, reflecting on the things they have learned, friendships that were made, and some of the fun times that were had throughout the year.
Community service projects are a significant achievement of the program. Three projects were introduced for the Class of 2024. The impact of the projects included over 665 volunteer hours, a financial impact of $61,750 plus in-kind contributions, and over 3,500 Livingston Parish residents impacted.
Save Our Kidz was recently presented with a donation enabling them to purchase life-saving medical devices to place in schools in Livingston Parish. The check presentation was held on June 3 with Save Our Kidz founder Brett Savant in attendance to receive the donation.
Child Advocacy Services’ location in Denham Springs will receive a private outdoor seating area for guests and staff to utilize during appointments. The location is used to conduct forensic interviews in a safe, child friendly environment for children who may have experienced abuse or witnessed a crime.
Lastly, a Disc Golf Course will be added in the City of Walker, the first in Livingston Parish. As one of the fastest growing sports with over 3,000 avid players in the BR and Hammond area, it will pull from these surrounding parishes as there is no other course within that area.
From each project, participants selected one team member as an honor for an Above and Beyond Award. Save Our Kidz group selected Nancy Tomasich, CAC Family Rest Station group selected Brandy Robertson, and Disc Golf Course group selected Michele Savoy. “Each year, welcoming new participants into this program marks a significant step forward for our parish. The knowledge they gain provides deep insights into the inner workings of our community. Additionally, they get the opportunity to apply this understanding through the program's project component. This initiative is essential for our region, and we are proud to introduce this new class of graduates." states April Wehrs, class facilitator.
