Livingston Parish Women’s Leadership Winners Announced
(Denham Springs, La.) – On Friday, December 10, 2021, the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of the 2021 Women’s Leadership Awards. The awards were presented during the Livingston Parish Chamber’s Women’s Leadership event. The event was presented by Our Lady of the Lake Livingston.
An open nomination process drew the nominees who then completed an application process to be considered for the judging. The awards are open to women who live, work and/or volunteer in Livingston Parish. Applicants must demonstrate achievements in the areas of professionalism in their area of expertise and show examples of how they paved the way for the success of other women. Each of the recipients shared their personal story of the challenges, successes and hope for up and coming generations of women leaders. To date 22 women have been recognized.
States Aprils Wehrs, Chamber president, who conceptualized and implemented Livingston Women’s programming, “Every year we see more women inspired to do more in their respective fields and community. I am a firm believer that women can and should accept their tremendous influence. Those who engage in initiatives bigger than themselves are better for it. It’s not always easy to find women who truly want to lead and will take the necessary steps to establish themselves as leaders and community influencers. The goal of this program is to bring more of them to action.”
Already in its fifth year, women’s programming in Livingston Parish has been well accepted. Adds Wehrs, “We continue to make adjustments that keeps this vital program in our parish. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and drives us to do more. Our lineup of speakers and an unending list of deserving winners will keep this program robust and growing for years to come.”
Announced as today’s winners are: Sybil Cotton – Our Lady of the Lake Livingston, Vanissa Murphy – Quality Engineering & Surveying, LLC, Dr. Chantelle Varnado – Launch, Sybil Stewart – Whitetail Properties Real Estate and Lori Johnson – Hancock Whitney Bank
